There is something about Charlotte Tilbury and her gorgeous shiny packaging that I find rather magical. Whenever I come across a Charlotte Tilbury product I feel it oozes luxury, quality and glamour with a little sprinkle of Charlotte’s enchantment. Its one of those brands where you want to try as many of the products as you possibly can because you know you will be in for a treat no matter what. A treat that now also comes in a unique face-mask form with the recently launched Charlotte Tilbury Instant Magic Facial Dry Mask.
I love a good face mask and I seem to have accumulated quite a growing collection of them recently in various styles and formulas. Sheet masks are particularly popular, largely because they are travel friendly, fairly mess-free and incredibly easy to use – open a packet, take out a sheet mask and pop on face. You can use them anytime and pretty much anywhere. When I saw Charlotte Tilbury had release one that is a ‘dry mask’ I was incredibly intrigued with how it would work.
Me wearing the Charlotte Tilbury Instant Magic Facial Dry Sheet Mask – Its quite a look!
How to Apply:
On dry, clean skin, apply the mask over the face pink-side facing the skin, and loop the hoops over your ears which at first made me feel like I was about to have a facelift. Once the mask is in place you can use your fingers to gently massage it into the face to ‘activate the ingredients’. Then relax or multi-task (you can walk around easily and do things with this on as its super comfortable on the face) for 15 minutes then carefully remove. Whats more you can use each mask up to 3 times, so once you have finished you can fold the mask up and pop it back in the foil packaging until you are next ready to use it.
The first thing I noticed about this sheet mask compared to others was just how soft and weightless it felt, the mask itself is of a textile fabric which feels gorgeous on the skin. Some face masks can feel pretty cold, abit gloopy on the skin and endure several minutes of ‘adjusting and sliding the mask around the face to try to get the mask to actually fit your face’. This mask is very different and I found it much quicker and easier to apply, and once it is on it doesn’t move/slide around either.
At £18 for one Mask or £60 for a book of 4 Masks initially it doesn’t sound so budget-friendly. But I have to say that I can really tell the quality of this product, and when you consider that you can re-use the mask up to 3 times it does start to seem alot more affordable. I do think it is worth the money, my skin feels like it has experienced such a treat after using this and I noticed how much better makeup looked on my skin afterwards too – Apparently after the 3rd use you can still use the product on a part of your skin that may need it such as your hands or feet, so its a multi-use mask which is a bonus.
The Science Part:
According to the Charlotte Tilbury Website the mask is inspired by the technical innovations of Korean Beauty. It has an in-built technology with a revolutionary bio-mimetic delivery system to reduce wrinkles, brighten and smooth the skin as well as lifting and hydrating.
When the mask was on my skin I wasn’t sure at first if the mask was actually really doing anything but that is mainly down to the ‘dry’ experience of it – once the mask was removed any doubts I had were gone in an instant – Oh My Goodness my skin felt divine. Plumped in the right places, hydrated, soft, facial-fresh with a beautiful glow. I honestly do think this mask is worth every penny, you can really feel the quality, and when it comes to skincare that is so important. There is no overwhelming smell within the mask, its not messy, leaves no residue, doesn’t stick to your hair or hairline, and if you have dry skin like me your skin will be left feeling all luminous and luxurious.
Whilst the mask itself is a little spooky looking, (not sure I would go out and pick the kids up wearing this), the fact that its working wonders underneath makes me fully appreciate it and the dry aspect is wonderfully unique. As mentioned each mask can be used 3 times on the face because its dry so there is no risk of it harbouring bacteria.
Its a very different experience to a wet sheet mask and I really prefer this dry sheet much more, it somehow makes my skin feel alot cleaner, with a more refreshed feel rather than just feeling ‘drenched’ in a product like some wet masks can. It feels like it hydrates rather than saturates and I am super impressed. Charlotte Tilbury calls it Instant Magic and I don’t think she could have given it a better name.
