Glossybox May 2017 Review

Glossybox May 2017 ReviewSometimes its just nice to go back to basics.  That’s one thing I have definitely learned from moving house recently, we have had such a huge clear-out of pretty much everything, from furniture, kitchenware, clothing and especially for me cosmetics.  Its actually been quite therapeutic and both ourselves and the new house feels so much better for it.  When it comes to makeup and skincare whilst its great to have an array of shiny, sparkly and fancy products to choose from in a morning I more often than not find myself reaching for my tried and trusted basics.  The no-fuss, reliable products that will still be there waiting for me as I try all kinds of other fancy schmanchy items and then return back to my staples.  May’s Glossybox pretty much summed this up too.  The May Glossybox was filled with 5 essentials that you just can’t go wrong with, and afterall with the right basics everything else will follow…..Here’s a closer look at their fab 5.

Dr PawPaw Original Balm

Dr.PawPaw Original Balm

I have never used this before but have heard so many great things about it, and I have used a luxury branded balm that’s very similar in the past.  Its a staple for any makeup bag because its multipurpose.  A soothing balm that can be used on the lips, skin and hair – you can use it to smooth down fly-away strands of hair, unruly brows and to create a shiny sheen to the hair.  Or you can apply it over makeup on the cheekbones for a healthy glow.  Its can also be used on dry irritated skin, cracked skin, heels, elbows, nails, you name it.  If that wasn’t enough its fragrance-free, cruelty-free and vegan.  This super combination of aloe vera and olive oil makes the balm an aid for insect bites and minor abrasions, I kind of feel like I shouldn’t really leave the home without now.

Caudalie Vinosource Moisturizing Sorbet

Caudalie Vinosource Moisturizing Sorbet

As someone who has extremely sensitive skin this sounds like it was made for me.  Caudalie is a wonderful skincare brand and this lightweight gel/cream is rich in powerful anti-oxidants and patented polyphenols which help to calm reactive skin and restore its water reserves to make it more resilient.  You apply each morning and evening to a clean face and neck.  As a Darphin Skincare devotee I am not one to stray away too much from their skincare but recently I seem to have acquired quite a few Caudalie products so I think I might be brave and have a switch over and try all their skincare products I have together – a full Caudalie Skincare review will no doubt appear on this blog in the near future.

Girl Meets Brush Girl Meets Brush

Girl Meets Brush Eyeshadow Blending Blush

I am always excited to receive a new makeup brush in a beauty box, especially eye blending brushes and I love the name of this company already ‘Girl Meets Brush’.  The grey and navy blue brush colours are a nice change from the rose gold, white and black that you see all over Instagram.  Vegan friendly and cruelty free, the domed bristles on this brush feel soft and sturdy for easy blending, this is going straight on my dressing table to use tomorrow.

Scrub Love Body Scrub

Scrub Love Active Charcoal Body Scrub

Just as I always love to receive a makeup brush in any beauty subscription box, the same applies to body scrubs.  I love love love a good body scrub and love trying new ones, they always feel like abit of a pick-me-up and a treat, and now is the perfect time with Summer finally arriving and the beach holiday calling my name.  Scrub Love is said to be the scrubbiest body scrub of them all…..I am intrigued!  The charcoal-based body exfoliator is 100% natural, vegan and vegetarian friendly, it is also free from pesky plastic micro beads that can pollute our waters.  Charcoal is one of the most ancient detoxing ingredients, it absorbs the day-to-day pollutants and impurities that sit on the skin, I am quite excited to try this as it also contains Aloe Vera, Avocado Oil and Seed and active carbon from coconut shell – here’s hoping my skin looks all cleansed, soothed and hydrated.

Ruby Blush Coral Ruby Blush Coral Ruby Blush Coral

Ruby Powder Blush in Coral

My favourite shade of blusher especially for this time of year, I can see me wearing this shade an awful lot throughout the Summer months.  A super silky powder blush that blended so easily when I swatched it, on my arm.  I love how highly pigmented this is and I know this is going to add that perfect pop of pinky-peach colour to my cheeks.
