Last week I had the pleasure of spending a wonderful afternoon attending the “Charlotte Tilbury Hollywood Flawless Filter” event in London, celebrating the launch of this ‘JLo in a Bottle‘ new product and learning all about it’s magic. The event itself was divine, I got a sneak peek of some of Charlotte Tilbury’s soon-to-be-released products, which I can’t say much more about at the moment, but oh my goodness are we in for a treat! (Once we can spill the beans I’ll have the full details all on my blog). It was also so nice to put faces to names of people I email or chat to, and to meet some lovely people (especially Angela and Lauren). Most of all though I got to meet Charlotte Tilbury herself for the first time and she is just incredible. Her personality is so infectious, you could tell every single person in the room has so much respect for her and rightly so. I really admire her as a makeup artist and as a woman, a business woman, she is hugely inspiring and just so lovely, charming and funny in person too. If you are a regular reader of my blog or follow my social media you will know I absolutely adore her products, ever since I was first introduced to her lipsticks and the brow pencil Grace.K (my holy grail!) my collection has grown like crazy and so many of her products have now become my everyday must haves and ‘can’t be without’ items in my makeup bag.
What is the Hollywood Flawless Filter
I must admit, when it was first launched I wasn’t exactly quite sure what it was…was it a primer, a highlighter, a foundation? The answer is that it’s actually a filter for your face, a wonderful complexion booster that can be worn in a number of ways. Just like the filter on your phone when you take a selfie and you look all flawless, glowy and luminous….this product helps to give you that effect in real life (and on camera too). Enriched with lamellar-filler that acts like a digitally-enhanced filter for your skin, it soft-focusses, perfects and illuminates the skin for a dewy, flawless youthful glow, and oh my goodness is it good, in fact its pretty amazing.
How to wear the Hollywood Flawless Filter
You can wear this numerous ways which gives you even more reasons to love it, (as if you needed more):
- Alone – Wear this all over the face on bare skin to act as a dewy filter
- Underneath – Apply under your regular foundation (a bit like a primer) to enhance the glow and polish to your skin – I find this way adds a subtle glow but really helps create a flawless base which smooths out any lines on the skin too
- Over The Top – If you prefer more coverage you can apply this over your regular foundation for a truly dewy glow
- Mix It – Mix this with your foundation for a filter-like glow mixed with the coverage
- Highlight – Or you can apply this just like a highlighter on the top of your cheekbones, down the nose, under the brow bone area, or anywhere you want to add more glow to the skin.
Its one of those products that is truly customisable and I think you will definitely find your way to apply it that will work best for you (and the occasion). I’ve been wearing the Hollywood Flawless Filter under my foundation this past week and even my Husband has commented on how radiant my skin has been looking, it just makes my skin look more awake, fresh and improved. Once you have tried it I honestly think its going to be one of those products you just won’t want to be without it. It just produces gorgeous results which ever is your chosen application method.
Packaging and Shades
Just like a Foundation the Hollywood Flawless Filter comes in a variety of shades (if you already use Charlotte’s Magic Foundation or Light Wonder then you can match the correct Hollywood Flawless Filter shade to your current Foundation shade on her website. Listed in the ‘Product Information’ Section by each Hollywood Flawless Filter Shade – it tells you which is the most suitable to match to, which is a huge help).
I had Shade 2 applied at the event by one of Charlotte’s Pro Artist’s (who was amazing and who I wish could do my makeup everyday), and it’s perfect for my cooler/beige under-toned pale skin. I also really appreciate that the base of the shades lean more ‘neutral’, which in my opinion means it doesn’t appear too yellow or too pink on the skin and gives a more natural finish.
Here’s a little help with the Shade Numbers for the Hollywood Flawless Filter
- 1 – Fair – neutral beige for very fair skin
- 2 – Light – neutral peachy beige for fair skin – (this is my current shade match)
- 3 – Light/Medium – neutral peach for light to medium skin
- 4 – Medium – neutral golden yellow for medium skin tones
- 5 – Tan – neutral caramel for medium tan skin tones
- 6 – Tan/Dark – warm amber for deep skin tones
- 7 – Dark – deep bronze for dark skin tones
Brides, Makeup Artists, Ladies (or Gentlemen)….You Need This
The Charlotte Tilbury Hollywood Flawless Filter is now a must have for me, especially on days when my skin is feeling a little flat and lacklustre, or likewise if I know I am going to have a photo taken that day its absolutely essential.
Brides, Makeup Artists…you need this! I’d highly recommend this for Bridal – if you are a makeup artist its one thats going to be an essential in your kit, especially because its so long-lasting and versatile. If you are getting married and doing your own makeup, or if you’re off to a special occasion or event – you need this. Getting ready for a night out? – you need this. It’s that touch of magic that will produce such a polished, flawless and luminous look, without adding oil, or shine in a greasy way. There’s no shimmer, sparkles or glitter either and it doesn’t settle into fine lines like some highlighting products can. Instead it adds that Hollywood flawless glow, helping fine lines and pores to appear smoother. I can totally verify the fine lines help as my skin looks so much smoother with this product on even when wearing this under foundation. I can certainly see this product becoming a huge beauty cult classic because the Hollywood Flawless Filter it is just oh so beautiful in so many ways.
