Celebrity Makeup Lines can be rather hit or miss, and for me abit 'take it or leave it'. In some ways its probably harder for a celebrity makeup line to impress me because I am always abit skeptical about them putting their 'name' to any old thing. However this can't be said about Chloe Lewis Beauty, to be honest I've never really watched TOWIE (I'm all about Modern Family and Designated Survivor kind of TV shows at the moment), although I am familiar with lots of the TOWIE cast. I do think this is a good thing as I'm solely judging the makeup on the actual products rather than the name, and I have to say I am really impressed. It seems Chloe took her time and was heavily involved in the behind-the-scenes process of the makeup products and I think that shows, she has produced some great quality products in beautiful packaging.
Lipsticks - White packaging is always my favourite kind of packaging, I just love white anything, its always my first choice when it comes to phones, furniture, accessories, etc, so the moment I saw the lipstick I instantly fell in love. Whats even better is that the white matte has rose gold edging - its like this lipstick was designed for me! Very en-trend but very classic and elegant looking too. The lipstick has a magnetic closure, which is a great idea so you don't loose the lipstick tops/caps in your handbag, and the product feels really smooth and light in the hand. I think the white colour is a refreshing change to all the shiny gold/rose gold lipstick packaging thats currently out there and for me it stands out in a good way. Its also a dream to photograph so expect this lipstick to be popping up quite a bit on my Instagram feed in the coming months.
Highlighters - The glass droplet style Highlighter packaging is sleek and lightweight. Droplet liquid highlighters are quite the thing at the moment and I think they are quite a unique yet practical way to apply a liquid product. You squeeze the top, (just like you did in School Chemistry with droplets) to gather the product then squeeze the top again to release - you can apply the product either directly on the face to then buff/blend in or, as I often do, drop a couple of droplets into my hand then apply the product with your fingers, sponge or brush onto the face from there - the latter ensures you don't put too much product straight onto the face.
Lipsticks - Currently there are 7 shades of Lipstick available:
Naked, Typically Me, Flossy, Berry Kiss, Reeva Red, Lady Love and the shade I have Honey Honey. All the lipsticks are packed with Vitamin E and contain Sun protection which adds some serious bonus points. The lipsticks are smooth and creamy to apply, they feel gentle and hydrating on the lips and have pretty decent staying power. The narrower tip shape of the lipstick product makes them easy to apply and the product itself is quite slim compared to other lipsticks I own. The Honey Honey shade shows a burnt orange shade on me, its not something I would typically pick out myself but I really like it, and I could definitely see myself wearing this shade a lot in the Summer months - its a perfect day-to-night holiday colour, especially with a bit of a sun tan. I love the shade name Honey Honey too, it makes me want to break into an ABBA song and head over to a Greek Island. I'm also quite keen to try the shades Typically Me and Flossy which are more pink tones.
Highlighters - Currently there are 4 Liquid Highlighters available:
Golden Glow, Bronzed Beauty, Moon Beach and the shade I have which is Pink Pearl. I love this highlighter shade, its quite comparable to Benefits Moonbeam highlighter but slightly richer and I have to say I prefer this over the Benefit one, its definitely a shade that suits my cooler toned skin well. A perfect Winter and Spring highlighter for me as I tend to wear more pink-toned makeup in these months. The product has plenty of shimmer without glitter which I much prefer, it gives a healthy glow without being too over the top, its buildable so if you really want to 'glow glow glow' then you certainly can, but likewise if you want more of a natural glow to the skin then you can just with by using a light hand on application. You can wear these liquid highlighters under your foundation, mix it with your foundation or add on top of the foundation to your upper cheek bones to create a luminous glow, and each way looks equally as pretty. I could see the more bronze toned highlighters being perfect for giving you that Summer Sun-Kissed glow too. A little product goes a long way so I have a feeling this will last some time too.
Lipsticks - The Chloe Lewis Beauty Lipsticks currently retail for £12.99.
Highlighters - The Chloe Lewis Beauty Highlighters currently retail for £22.99.
I think her pricepoint is fair, she hasn't gone too drugstore, but she hasn't gone high-end either. I think the quality of the products makes the pricepoint realistic, all the products can be found on her website chloelewisbeauty.com
I am really impressed with both products, I think the packaging is simple but classic and it doesn't feel like she is jumping on a 'celebrity fad', you can tell a lot of thought has gone into the products. I also really like that she has started with just a couple of products and done them well, rather than bringing out a massive range of lesser quality items. As mentioned above I think the pricepoint is fair and I look forward to seeing how she expands her beauty range in the coming months.
