In such a saturated Beauty World with so many brands it can sometimes take something rather special to stand out from the crowd, well step forward Blank Canvas Cosmetics, the moment I was introduced to this brand from The Blogger Programme I have fallen in love with just about every product they offer. Their philosophy is simple, they see the face as a ‘blank canvas’ with endless possibilities, which as a makeup lover and makeup artist speaks to me well, you can interpret their ethos any way you choose, it really is ‘your blank canvas’. The Irish based online Cosmetics Brand are producing beautiful, quality and affordable products that are receiving rave reviews and for good reason. So here are my picks from Blank Canvas Cosmetics and why they are my current favourites….
Blank Canvas Master Series Palette One – Eye Palette
I had read so many great reviews about this palette before I managed to get my hands on one and I can totally see why. The twelve shades are beautiful – eleven velvety matte eyeshadows ranging from a vanilla shade, warm toned copper shades to a dark brown shade, plus the one shimmer eyeshadow which works as a gorgeous highlighter. All of which are ideal for creating so many different everyday looks, perfect for neutrals, smokey eyes or adding that something extra for a night out, the looks are endless. Highly pigmented and easy to blend, each shade seems to compliment the next shade perfectly no matter how many or how few you choose for your look that day, I feel this is one palette you can’t really go wrong with. A staple for everyday and one that can easily take you from day to evening without having to get complicated. The palette comes with a double ended brush which is of good quality especially for palette brushes (one end is a flat shading brush, the other end a fluffy domed brush for blending) and the palette contains a decent mirror on the inside lid. The shades themselves lean more on the warm side but as a cooler toned girl I still found many worked really well for me – a must for any eye palette appreciator.
Brushes: I have been really impressed with Blank Canvas Cosmetics brushes, they are super soft, easy to use, blend incredibly well and all importantly wash really well.
Blank Canvas 12 Face and Eye Brush Set
If you are looking for a good all-rounder set of brushes you can’t go wrong with this 12 piece face and eye brush set. It will cover all the basics you need with added extras too. The box set comes with a handy draw-string pouch which inside holds the 12 piece brushes, 5 face brushes and 7 eye brushes. The back of the box gives great information on the best way to use each brush and what each one has been designed for. The 5 face brushes include a foundation brush, stippling brushes, tapered brushes and a powder blush. The Eye Brushes include short pencil, flat shader, blending, liner, spoolie, winged eyeliner/lip brush and I feel that if you are starting out as a Makeup Artist or/and are looking to build your makeup brush set this is a great place to start.
Blank Canvas Dimension Series Brushes
I couldn’t write about Blank Canvas without mentioning these 3 brushes either – the F33, F08 and F06 and if you are a Rose Gold fan you are going to fall in love with these brushes and their whole Dimension Series. They are all made from extra soft, high quality anti-bacterial synthetic fibres that are easy to clean (always a bonus with makeup brushes). They come in a variety of finishes from Black, to Pink to Gold to Rose Gold and they are Vegan friendly.
F06 – I have this in a shiny gold metallic finish and the brush itself is a real multi-purpose brush. Great for foundation, blush and contouring, the soft bevelled shape makes it ideal for working along the contours of the face. You can use this with cream, powders or gel products and the bristles feel so soft as you buff or stipple the products into your skin.
F08 – Rose Gold alert! The F08 is yet another multi-purpose brush for foundation, blush or contour, similar to the F06 but the bristles are slightly shorter so I think this one would work brilliantly for contouring and buffing blusher into the skin easily in particular.
F33 – The shape of the bristles is really intriguing, the large straight angled contour brush with short dense bristles makes it the perfect cheseled-cheek contour brush. Use along the nose or cheekbones for super-sharp contouring its one that just hugs your cheekbones to produce a beautiful slimming effect.
Blank Canvas BC Standee Compact Upright Standing Pouch
When you have beautiful makeup brushes you need somewhere to keep them and especially when travelling. I have had travel pouches in the past for makeup brushes that work well for travelling but then not so much for ease-of-access when you are using them at your destination. Or they work well once I am at my destination but are a little heavy or bulky for travelling. No longer though thanks to this great little product it really is an ideal travel solution. The zip pouch is a great size, not too big, not too small, it holds about 10-20 brushes (depending on the size/thickness/shape of the brushes) and its made from a soft faux leather making it light and ideal for travelling. For me the best thing is that it stands up too, so when you are at your hotel or holiday rental you can stand this on a table or dresser to do your makeup giving you easy access to your makeup brushes and then zip it back up afterwards again ready for travelling. The inside is wipe clean and it comes in black or hot pink. It’s one of those items that is practical, compact and convenient, just super super handy.
With so many more great products available from Blank Canvas this is just a snippet of what’s on offer. I will go more in depth in a later blog post on the Master Series One Eye Palette to show you some different ‘Autumn’ looks you can create from the palette as I think this is such a beautiful Autumn-toned eye palette. I would love to hear your thoughts on Blank Canvas, and their Website is certainly worth a browse.
