Too Faced Just Peachy Mattes Palette Review and Swatches
A great palette for the Summer to Autumn months
When it comes to packaging I do think Too Faced Cosmetics produce some of the most creative and adorable packaging, I still love my Christmas in New York Set from a couple of years ago which featured my favourite packaging to date. With their recent Carnaby Street stand-alone-store opening (blog post all about it here). Too Faced Cosmetics show no sign of slowing down and its one of those brands that always seems to draw me in with their intriguing product line, and in particular their ‘Peach Line’.
I recently picked up this all matte Too Faced Just Peachy Mattes Palette in time for the Summer months after debating for a while whether to splurge on this or some of their other eye shadow palettes. In the end I decided on this Just Peachy Mattes palette because I felt that I would actually wear the majority of the matte shades on a regular basis as opposed to some of the glittery shades in the some of the other palettes that even though I thought they looked so pretty, in reality I probably wouldn’t reach for them that much day-to-day. I’ve not been disappointed either as the Just Peachy Mattes Palette is everything I was hoping for.
The Palette is a great size, its slimline, lightweight and fits nicely in the hand. I adore the two heart clasp opening and inside you get a great size mirror that’s sturdy and stands up at any angle which I love. Then you get a decent 12 shades with an individual net weight of 1.25g, and all of which have their shade names underneath too which is always helpful. The palette feels strong and sturdy for travel and feels neatly compact.
As the title of the palette suggests each shade within this Too Faced Just Peachy Mattes palette are all ‘matte shades’ and there are 12 different shades in total. The shades range from soft light creamy peaches, to warm peaches, to rich browns, and a couple of vibrant shades for contrast. I especially love the ‘Peaches and Cream’ shade, the ‘Just Peach’ shade and the ‘Peach Punch’ shade, with ‘Chocolate Dipped’ being a great liner/smokey type of shade for my cooler toned skin. I’m not normally someone who reaches for browns very often preferring pinks, peaches and taupe colours so for me the shade ‘Peach Tart’ would probably be one of the least used shades in the palette but for many people I could see this being one of the more popular shades.
This is a great day-to-night palette that would fit perfectly in your makeup bag, its one that you can certainly use to create a very natural look, but equally with the shades such as ‘Peach Punch’ and ‘Peach Sangria’ you could go all out for an evening or party look too. I think its a very versatile palette for a variety of different skin tones and because they are all matte shades the formula of each shade is the same – creamy, buttery and blendable. I do find Too Faced matte eyeshadows to wear better on me than their shimmer or glittery eyeshadows.
In The Palette
On The EyeLids – Peach Butter, Peaches and Cream, Just Peachy, Fresh-Picked & Chocolate Dipped
On The Cheeks – The Bronzer, Blush and Highlighter from the Too Faced Sweet Peach Glow Palette
On The Lips – Too Faced Melted Chocolate Lipstick in Chocolate Milkshake
As with many Too faced products this palette is also infused with scents, in this case its peach and sweet fig and it certainly smells sweet. To be honest I’m not that big a fan of scent infused makeup products, I didn’t mind the Too Faced Christmas in New York palette because that was infused with chocolate, it wasn’t over powering, and lets face there’s not many of us that could resist the smell of chocolate! The peachy sweet scent from this Just Peachy Matte’s palette is luckily not overpowering either as I have to say I’m not crazy for the scent. Once the products are on your skin you can’t smell the scent its only the actually palette itself that seems to produce any fragrance.
I think this a great Summer through Autumn Palette thanks to the variety of light and deeper shades. I love that its an all-matte eyeshadow palette and feel its works well for day to evening with the ability to create an endless amount of different looks. At £33.00 I think its well priced and good value for money. I also love how lightweight and compact the palette feels. I’m really happy I got this now, its not one (that I hope anyway) will end up in a drawer somewhere with a collection of palettes that rarely get used, instead I can see the peach shades in particular being colours I reach for a lot over the coming months. I always apply eyeshadows over an eye primer (The Too Faced Eye Shadow Insurance Eye Primer is a favourite of mine) and the shades are long-wearing over the eye primer for sure. Each shade is well pigmented with some a little more creamy and buildable than others, but overall I think this is a really great Peachy Palette.
The Too Faced Just Peachy Mattes Palette currently retails for £33.00 in the UK and $45.00 in the USA.
